Pastor Todd's Epiphany Message

To the Body of Christ at St. Mark's,

Today the global Christian community celebrates and remembers the visit of Wise Men from the East bearing gifts given in homage to the infant Jesus.  The significance of this event is that strangers, people from far away recognize that with this birth is  that of a king, the messiah!  Led by a star that told them that a great king was to be born they came in recognition that indeed a king, a savior has come to the earth!

We remember the Wise Men because in their expertise at reading the signs they recognized that the Heavens were sending a signal, a message about what God was intending.  Remembering and reflecting on the Epiphany can inspire us to be learned like the Wise Men in reading the signs. We can become like the Wise Men in being experts at discerning what God intends for each of us.  We do that through the practice of prayer and the study of the Holy Word.  Such tools help us to tune our souls to God's hand moving in our midst.

Therefore on this day I encourage you to become experts in being present, in tuning in to the Divine plan for our lives through the practice of our faith.  I invite you to utilize the opportunities available at St. Mark's to become experts in reading the signs about where we find God:
